Move beyond learning the notes—and into a performance that communicates.

Whether you are preparing an audition, recital, role, collaborative performance, recording, competition, or masterclass, our work begins with the music in front of us and the story you want to tell. Singers may focus on text, diction, interpretation, and dramatic intention; pianists may focus on listening, breathing, balance, ensemble, rehearsal skills, and working effectively with singers, instrumentalists, or choirs. Together, we refine the musical and interpretive choices that allow a performance to feel honest, confident, and fully your own.

What We Can Work On Together

Bring the music you are preparing. Each session focuses on what you need most.

  • Audition, competition, role, and recital preparation

  • Text, diction, phrasing, interpretation, character development, and storytelling.

  • Building a polished audition package.

  • Collaborative piano coaching for vocal and instrumental repertoire

  • Working with singers—breathing, balance, cueing, listening, and rehearsal skills

  • Playing for choirs and ensembles —following a conductor, supporting singers, and effective rehearsal technique

  • Masterclass, recording, and professional performance preparation.

Words Before Notes

We connect listening, intention, and musical detail—along with text and language when relevant—so that the performance feels honest and fully alive, not merely technically correct.

Be Present. Be Honest. Be Brave.

Each session is grounded in deep listening, clear, thoughtful choices, and the courage to communicate something real.

A Performer’s Perspective

For more than three decades, Cheryl has performed and collaborated with singers and instrumentalists as a pianist, collaborative artist, vocal coach, and educator. Her experience spans professional recitals and collaborations, opera and young artist programs, recordings, university teaching, auditions, role preparation, and masterclasses.

She brings the perspective of both performer and collaborator to every session, creating a calm, encouraging, focused environment where singers and pianists can make specific choices, take artistic risks, listen more deeply, and communicate with greater honesty, confidence, and freedom.
